Sahelian scholars praise the UAE’s support for peace efforts in the region

The Abu Dhabi Forum for the Promotion of Peace, in cooperation with the Mauritanian government in the capital, Nouakchott, organized the work of the "first consultative meeting between scholars of the Sahel countries" under the slogan "an invitation to promote peace, tolerance and national reconciliation".

The forum was held under the patronage of His Excellency Mohamed Ould Sheikh Al-Ghazwani, President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, and chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayah, President of the Emirates Council for Legal Fatwa, President of the Abu Dhabi Forum for the Promotion of Peace in Muslim Societies, with the participation of ministers, leaders of religious affairs and heads of Islamic universities in the countries of the region.

In his speech, His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah Bin Baih affirmed: “The Abu Dhabi Forum for the Promotion of Peace is based on its views and approaches from the vision of the United Arab Emirates and our firm conviction that there is no future for humanity except through peace and harmony, and that coexistence is the only option for us in our region and in the world as a whole. According to what the human reason and experience demonstrate. "

For their part, the scholars of the Sahel countries praised in their final statement the efforts made by the UAE to support peace, tolerance and coexistence initiatives in the countries of the region .. They expressed their support for the precautionary and preventive measures taken by the governments of countries to prevent the spread of the Corona virus, especially the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, based on its sovereign and legitimate responsibility in the care of Citizens, residents, pilgrims and visitors.

The participants announced their intention to run peace convoys that roam the region to save young people from delinquency and to hold human reconciliations that reject division, hatred and religious, ethnic and sectarian eradication … calling for the governments and authorities to join forces with intellectual approaches and field initiatives undertaken by scholars and clerics and provide the necessary and necessary mechanisms for the movement of the continent’s scholars to suppress Fire of violent extremism and civil wars in the region.

The Mauritanian president had met representatives of the participating delegations at the forum in the presidential palace in the capital, Nouakchott, and assured them of his full support for their noble efforts and initiatives.
