Emirates Fatwa Council: Saudi Arabia’s suspension of Umrah visas is a sovereign measure to prevent public harm

The UAE Legal Fatwa Council noted the precautionary and preventive measures taken by the Kingdom’s government, based on its sovereign and legal responsibility to care for citizens, pilgrims, visitors and residents, by temporarily suspending them for granting Umrah and visiting visas in order to ensure the health of all and to preserve their safety. In a statement today (Saturday), Abdullah Al-Mahfooz Bin Baih, Chairman of the Council, stated that these measures are required by the purposes of the Sharia that came to preserve the human psyche and according to the jurisprudential rules that called for the prevention of evil from bringing interests and to bear private harm to pay the public harm.
